Pink for October

I’m a little late for this one, but I’ve now managed to go Pink for October in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness month. At the moment, NBCM is a US based thing, although a pink month was done by Cancer Research UK a while ago. Anyway, the point is, breast cancer awareness shouldn’t be limited by country.

If you don’t know much about breast cancer, please take this opportunity to go and read a little about it, and consider a small donation.

The normal green service will be resumed in November. Although, I am quite liking the pink. Maybe a touch of brown as well…

Comments

I also quite like the pink, I think I would have gone for a tad brighter shade though. This looks more like purple to me! :)

You should make some different colorschemes that you switch between ;)

While I am 110% behind raising brest cancer awareness I am, as a man aware that more of us are diagnosed with prostate cancer a year than women are of breast cancer. However there is very little awareness of this and even less funding for prostate cancer research.

I’ve pinked as well. I think it’s a great way to raise awareness. I really dig the subtle changes, Mark.

For an interesting twist on the topic of the “pinking” of breast cancer awareness, please see the link on my website, http://www.honestmedicine.com, to the article “Welcome to Cancerland: A Mammogram Leads to a Cult of Pink Kitsch” by Barbara Ehrenreich.

This article will give you a different perspective on the topic!

Sincerely,

Hi Mark

Lovely idea to raise awareness mate, it also demonstates the flexibility of CSS.

Have you thought about creating a Just Giving account to obtain donations? If you set one up I’d only be too willing to contribute.

It seemed to work quite well for my company when we arranged a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research

This is a great idea Mark!  My new site (currently in development) is going to be white + color, and so I may do something similiar in the future too (have Red version for World Aids day perhaps?)

I also find it interesting how the black bar at the top gives the site a whole new feel (in addition to the colour altereation - I like it!)

Thanks Chris. Yep, finally flickred although my account has currently been hijacked by the missus and photos of her flower design course. I’ll try and documentmy next supermarket argument to the fullest!

Nice tint for pink. Actually, just to mention, that we have this same “Breast Cancer Campaign” thing going on Finland. In case you did’nt know where Finland is it’s Between Sweden and Russia, also Nokia was founded in this little peace of land. ;)

Breast cancer is so dangerous. Awareness and periodical preventive medical checkup are very important. Good idea from you to support the pink for october.

A picture of Mark BoultonI'm a graphic designer from near Cardiff in the UK. I've been a designer for over ten years now and primarily work on the web. I'm still partial to a bit of print every now and then though. I used to work for Agency.com in London as an Art Director before working as a Senior Designer for the BBC in sunny Cardiff. This was all before I took leave of my senses and formed my own design consultancy, Mark Boulton Design Ltd.

I've got a thing about grids and typography and occasionally ramble on about them to anyone who will listen.

If you're after simple, clean and effective web design; let me know.
