The personal disquiet of

Mark Boulton

Back to Green (for now)

Following my month of supporting breast cancer, this site is now green again. If you’re reading this in an RSS reader, then you probably don’t give two hoots. However, if you’re reading this in a browser, then kindly dump your cache and refresh otherwise things may look a little odd.

It’s been nice being pink for the month I must admit. So much so that I’m considering a slight colour change more often. I may even put you, my readers, in charge via a little stylesheet switcher (user preferences? heaven forbid). Although I’ll probably end up tossing this thought on my steaming pile of unfinished, festering ‘things to do’. Like I haven’t got enough to do with a new business, a book to finish, a web-app to finish…

A change is as good as a rest, Mark. Alternative style sheets would be a nice touch.

And I have been meaning to ask, how is Flow coming along? Really looking forward to giving it a go.

Pink was nice for a while, but I like the green more. Although I miss the dark bar at the top to create some contrast. I somehow got used to it.

I was about to you that your favicon was still pink, but it seems it’s just firefox hanging on to it.

It looks like ctrl+F5 doesn’t reload favicons. Ah, well I think I’ll stick to the pink one for now.

Nice to see the old familiar site again. You should give blue a go ;)

Yep Pink was nice for the month but I do like the green!

Owen and Stephen: Flow is ticking along.  Without giving too much away, we’ve completed most of the mapping of the application and spec. Just getting in there and building the thing now.

Don’t worry, Flow isn’t on the pile of ‘things to do’. Well, it is, but it’s unlikely to be forgotten!

I agree with an earlier comment — the dark bar at the top did add a little contrast to the site.

In terms of changing your CSS often, I’m not sure how well this works, but maybe you could use a query string such as screen.css?v=01.11.06 or something like that.

I’ve seen this done a lot, and means you can change your site’s colours without worrying that people will need to force refresh everytime.

I wonder if the same is true for the favicon.ico issue too?

I’m looking forward to Flow as well?

Nice to have you back in green ??it is more “Mark Boulton” than the pink version (doesn’t mean it didn’t look good as well).

BTW Mark, the Flow web site seems to have been down for most of the day, at least.

Stephen, I noticed that too. Wonder what that’s about…

Richard: might be something to do with Dreamhost. A couple of sites I’ve got hosted with them have been really flakey today.

Or maybe Mark’s uploading a big dramatic update!

    Checks site again

    Stupid Dreamhost.

Hmm… they might be based in California and not always get the accent when you chat on the phone, but I’ve stuck with (mt) Media Temple always, and I always will.

Especially since the Grid Server just came out (it’s like a party on my websites and everyone’s invited)
