Here, there and everywhere

Looks like the next six months is looking very busy for me - from conferences to holidays.

{title}In November I'm off to the Carson Workshop one day workshop, "CSS for Designers" in London. It promises to be an excellent day with Molly and Andy at the helm covering topics such as 'demystifying structure' and 'CSS: Managing Design Process and Alternative Device Design', which is of particular interest to me.

They've just added a new date on the 17th with limited places available, so what are you waiting for? Book a place.

So, after a couple of holidays in between I'm off to SXSW for the second time. I'm so looking forward to this and this time round I get to sit on a panel with, amongst others, Khoi, which is a bit of a daunting prospect but one I'm really looking forward to.

I can't quite believe the hype with SXSW, it seems to get bigger and bigger every year. Can't wait.

Then, me and Mrs Boulton are off to Perth, Australia (for the second time) to attend a good friends wedding. I love Australia, I really do. Several years ago Emma and I lived in Manly, Sydney for 6 months and it's quite possibly the happiest six months of my life. The Australian's have just got it sorted in my opinion, from the bbq's to the surfing. The whole zest for life they have going on is wonderful - I hope I pick a bit of it up whilst I'm there.

So, just thought I'd share all that as - after being quite ill for most of the summer - I'm really enjoying being able to make plans and be excited about design again. Oh, and the sun... and beaches... and Australian fish and chips...

Sounds like you’ll be having lots of fun in the months to come Mark!

Manly - I think this is my favourite area of Sydney from when I visited two years ago, and one of the places I’ll definetly be returning to next year (hopefully)!

But I also wouldn’t mind doing SXSW and @media again… choices, choices...!

Mark can we drag you to a Port 80 meeting in Perth? Basically 20 to 40 web geeks met at a pub to talk web stuff. Even if you are not in Perth for the first Wednesday of the month, I am sure we can schedule an extra one.

You and Khoi together on a panel? I suspect it’s going to be on grid layouts, then. ;)

At any rate, I know at least one panel I’ll be attending this year.

A picture of Mark BoultonI'm a graphic designer from near Cardiff in the UK. I've been a designer for over ten years now and primarily work on the web. I'm still partial to a bit of print every now and then though. I used to work for Agency.com in London as an Art Director before working as a Senior Designer for the BBC in sunny Cardiff. This was all before I took leave of my senses and formed my own design consultancy, Mark Boulton Design Ltd.

I've got a thing about grids and typography and occasionally ramble on about them to anyone who will listen.
