Objective

CUBE approached Fresco to design the identity for the gallery, which included the logo and launch material. The logo had to be used on many applications from glass to paper, metal and wood. All the publicity material had to be produced cheaply whilst retaining a high degree of design and credibility as CUBE’s survival relied, in part, to the donations from members worldwide.

Solution

The logo was designed as a simple square echoing the design ethos of centre. The major part of the brand building came about in the publicity and published material. The centre was contstructed from an old victorian building in the centre of Manchester. The building was stripped back to reveal the ‘workings’ of the building - beams, brick and columns. The design of the launch booklet was treated in the same way. The typographic grid was part exposed, typography was clean and architectural, the colour palette strong and modern.
